The Essence of Optimum Nutrition and Nutritional Needs

When I talk about nutrition, I mean to discuss about optimum human nutrition. Optimum nutrition deals with providing essential nutrients in foods that are vital to support human life and health. Malnutrition and its consequences, largely due to poverty are the main contributors to deaths and disabilities worldwide. Therefore the essence of good nutrition is specially helps children grow physically and helps eradication of poverty.

You may be aware of the fact that the human body contains chemical compounds, such as water, carbohydrates, proteins, fiber, fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, trace element etc. These nutrient classes are categorized as macro-nutrients i.e. carbohydrates, fats, fiber, protein, water that provides structural materials, energy(except water)  and micro-nutrients like minerals and vitamins do not give energy.

You may have insufficient time to consider what your nutritional needs might be or the affect of nutrition on your health. Did you know that if the brain does not get enough protein, it will not develop correctly? All these pieces of information are contributing factors to our nutritional needs that are met through our eating habits, may it be good or bad.

 

Human body derives optimum nutrition from intake of foods to maintain it in optimum healthy state. We often hear nutrition in relation to our whole food vitamin intake, our fortified cereals and milk, and need of nutritional value that derives from our food choices.
